Youth Justice Nurse (Specialist Nurse)

We support young people aged 12 to 18 in Surrey who are in the youth justice system with your health and wellbeing in a safe and confidential way. We can give you advice on things like drugs, alcohol, sexual health, and emotional support, and help you access services such as GPs, dentists, and vaccinations. We help you make healthy choices and get the support you need.

About the team

We are the Youth Justice Service (Specialist Nurse), a team that supports young people aged 12 to 18 in Surrey who are in the youth justice system. We are friendly and approachable, and you can talk to us about any aspect of your health. We do not judge and are here to support you and help you get the care you need.

Who this service is for

We can usually help if:

  • You are aged 12 to 18 and are part of the youth justice system in Surrey
  • You want support with your general health and wellbeing
  • You need advice about drugs, alcohol, or stopping smoking
  • You want help with sexual health, including testing or free condoms
  • You need help booking a GP, dentist, or optician appointment
  • You would like support with emotional health, such as bereavement, self-harm, or identity
  • You want advice about healthy living, such as sleep, exercise, or eating well
  • You need support to get your routine vaccinations

We may not be the right service if:

  • You are not aged 12 to 18
  • You are not part of the youth justice system in Surrey
  • You need urgent medical help (please contact 999, NHS 111, or your GP)
  • You are already getting the support you need from another health service
  • Your request is not related to health, wellbeing, or access to care

Questions and answers

What can the nurse help me with?
You can get support with many health needs. This includes advice on drugs, alcohol, sexual health, and emotional wellbeing. We can also help you book appointments and stay healthy.
What happens at my first appointment?
You will have a private one-to-one appointment with the nurse. We will talk about your health and any concerns you have. Together, we will agree how we can support you.
Where will my appointment take place?
Your appointment can be in a place that works for you. This could be at home, school, a community centre, or another suitable place. We will agree this with you.
Do I have to see the nurse?
No, you do not have to see us if you do not want to. We will only meet with you if you agree. You can choose if and when you want support.
