Advice Line

For:

We are here to answer your questions and give you advice about your child’s health, development, and parenting. You can contact us if you are worried or need support, and no question is too small. We are available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, excluding bank holidays.

About the team

We are a team of community nursery nurses who work with health visiting teams across Surrey, who you may have seen in our child health drop-in clinics. We also work with health visitors and school nurses. We are here to give you advice and support when you need it.

Who this service is for

We can usually help if:

  • You live in Surrey
  • You have a child or young person aged 0 to 19
  • You have questions about your child’s health, development, or parenting
  • You want advice or support from our team

We may not be the right service if:

  • You do not live in Surrey
  • Your child is over 19
  • You need urgent medical help (you should contact your GP, NHS 111, or emergency services)

Questions and answers

What can I contact the advice line about?
You can ask about your child’s growth, development, and health. We can also help with feeding, sleep, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing. No question is too small.
What happens when I contact the advice line?
You will speak to a member of our team. We will listen to your concerns and give advice or support. We may also guide you to other services if needed.
Do I need to prepare anything before I call?
You do not need to prepare anything. It can help to have your child’s details and any questions ready. You can call whenever you need advice.
How long will I have to wait?
We aim to answer your call as quickly as possible. If we cannot respond straight away, we will get back to you. Waiting times may vary during busy periods.
Who do I call to book or change an appointment?
For appointments, you should contact the Single Point of Access (SPA). Follow the options given when you call to reach the right team.
Who do I contact about immunisations or if my child is unwell?
For immunisations, you can contact the immunisation team on 0300 247 0025. If your child is unwell, you can check the illness advice page or seek medical help if needed
