Our team includes Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants who work with children and young people. We use our skills and experience to help your child build confidence and take part in the things that matter to them every day. We support you and your child to find ways to make activities easier, so they can feel more independent and enjoy daily life.
Therapists help you and your child take part more easily in everyday activities at home, in school, and in the community. We spend time getting to know your child, your family, and your daily routines, so we can understand what your child needs, wants, and is expected to do, and what may be getting in the way. We then work together to find helpful solutions, such as trying different ways to do activities, using equipment or support, or making small changes to the environment, so your child can join in and feel more confident and independent.
Occupational Therapy offers practical advice, strategies and support to you, your child, and the people around them, including schools, parents and carers, to help build everyday and independence skills. We support your child with self-care and daily living skills, such as getting dressed or undressed, using fastenings like buttons and zips, feeding themselves, using the toilet, and personal hygiene like washing, wiping, handwashing, and brushing teeth and hair.
We support skills like using both hands together for play, using scissors, early mark making, pencil grip and control, and handwriting. This helps your child take part more easily, build confidence, and become more independent.
We help your child develop physical and body skills needed for everyday life and school. This includes coordination and balance during sports or PE, movement and physical play skills, posture and seating, and stability in sitting for learning and play. It also helps your child access their environment more easily and take part with confidence.
Occupational Therapy helps your child manage sensory processing skills so everyday activities feel easier and less overwhelming. This includes sensitivity to sound, touch, light, smell and movement, tolerance of touch and self-care tasks, and sensory needs in clothing and daily routines.
Attention and thinking skills help your child take part more easily in everyday tasks at home and school. This includes attention and focus, motor planning and sequencing (following steps in order), problem solving during tasks, and following instructions. This helps your child feel more confident, stay engaged, and manage daily activities more independently.
